One of the most effective ways of reheating your Paella is in a frying pan. It is one of the best options to effective warm up your delicious meals. One of the advantages of heating your paella in a frying pan is that your paella maintains the same texture and feel as it was when you originally cooked it. However, cooking your paella in the pan may take a little more time and effort than the other methods, but it is still effective.

Follow these steps to heat up your meal;

  1. Take out your paella out of the fridge and let it sit on your countertop or table for at least, half an hour beforehand. This lets your dish defrost naturally and be ready for cooking,
  2. Turn on your oven top burner to medium heat,
  3. Add some olive oil and let it heat up for a few seconds.
  4. Then add your paella to the pan,
  5. Even out your paella so it can cook evenly. This way you can avoid it becoming chunky, half cold, or half hot,
  6. Stir your dish for several minutes, until it’s reheated and cooked through,
  7. Your paella might start to cook or fry a little bit more than desired. To avoid this, keep stirring it to avoid any part of the paella to touch the bottom of the pan for too long, it should come out perfectly fine and evenly heated. Your paella should be ready to serve soon after it is warm enough.

The Oven Method

Another way of reheating your paella is in the oven. If you choose this method, keep in mind that it is going to take a little more time as well, but it will require less effort on your part than using the stovetop method. You will need a strong ceramic container, a casserole dish or something equivalent would be ideal in order for you to spread the paella evenly in a thin layer.  Also, take note that the thinner the layer, the faster your meal will cook, so don’t spread it too thin to avoid ending up with crunchy paella.

Follow these steps in order to reheat your paella in the oven;

  1. Preheat your oven to 350˚F,
  2. Remove the paella pan from the box and also remove any lightly grilled seafood and mussels from the paella and set it aside on a plate or platter,
  3. Add some water, around half a cup per two cups of so that it becomes moist without making it soggy,
  4. Cover your dish in foil and cook it for around 20 to 25 minutes at 350 degrees F
  5. Give your dish a stir to make sure it cooks evenly.
  6. After another 5 to 10 minutes your dish should be ready to serve.

The crispy rice at the bottom which is known as socarrat, is said to be the best part of the paella.

The Steamer Method To Reheat Paella

Follow these steps to heat up your paella in a steamer;

  1. Put enough water in your steamer
  2. Place your paella evenly into your steamer
  3. Let it steam for around8 minutes or so. When done your dish should be ready to serve.

The Microwave Method

Using your microwave to warm your paella is also another effective option to reheat your meal. It is not the best option but it can give you your desired results.

Follow these steps to heat up your paella in a microwave;

  1. Take your microwave safe container or dish and add a tiny amount of oil. You can either wipe or spray evenly across the bowl,
  2. Add your paella to the bowl and make sure that you place it evenly with no clumps,
  3. Set your microwave to medium heat and leave it for a 2 minutes or so,
  4. Be sure to check your dish and If it’s not hot enough, stir, and continue to heat in 30-second increments, stirring each time. When ready, your dish should be ready to serve.

It is important that you stir in between heating increments because your meal  may heat up slowly, by stirring, you give the paella a chance to heat at a more even rate.

Tips  For Reheating Paella Rice

They are different types of paella rice dishes, loose rice dishes such as Paella Valenciana, Meat paella, and Vegetarian paella. For such dishes you can apply a simple and non-invasive technique that allows good control of the rice throughout the whole time. Simply put a ladle or a pot of water to heat, and put the rice in a pot or a sieve and put it on top, without it ever touching the water. Stir it little by little so that the rice recovers humidity in the meantime it is heated. For wet rice which can be creamy or brothy such as seafood paella, prawn paella and mixed paella you can apply another technique which is suitable for brothy rice. Simply heat up your rice in a pot which has a good amount of liquid. Keep in mind that when it cools down it will thicken, so the best thing to do is to return it to a pot with more broth, so that it recovers its texture. If you cook it well the first time, a reheated broth can become even richer.
